Residents of the Haciendas of Mission Hills are leading the way in protecting their Village with Automated External Defibrillators.

They have 40 trained responders and eight AEDs. One of those AEDs was donated, but the others were purchased thanks to fundraisers like the one Sunday evening.

One hundred tickets were sold for the event at the home of Bob and Jane Bloom which featured barbecue and popular Villages entertainer Petrina.

Attendees raved about both.

Spanky’s made its catering debut in The Villages at the event. Owner Mike Hunt and his 12-year-old son Kurtis served guests heaping portions of barbecue, cole slaw, beans and potato salad.

“The food is really good. The brisket is especially good,” said Mary Eastman of the Haciendas of Mission Hills.

And then, of course, there was Petrina.

No one gets to sit in a chair with Petrina in the house. She had attendees up on the dance floor and showing off their best moves to “Blurred Lines” and “Moves Like Jagger.”

The event netted $2,500 for the AED program. In addition to ticket sales, there were several donations to the neighborhood AED program.
