John S. Hubbard, Jr.

John S. Hubbard, Jr., 87, of The Villages, Florida, was called to Heaven Saturday, October 4, 2014. Mr. Hubbard lived most of his life in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, moving to The Villages in 1996. He worked in the coal mining industry, beginning as a miner and moving up to General Manager of Windsor Powerhouse Coal Company and Vice President of Pittston Coal Company. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Brian and his parents and seven siblings. Church was an important part of his life; having served as an ordained Elder, a lay minister and in many other capacities. He loved golfing, hunting, fishing and gardening and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Hubbard; daughters, Charlene Wells (Paul), Libby Franks(George), Teresa Ford (Larry); six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; brother, Ronald Hubbard and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162 or Chapel of Christian Faith. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 3 – 5 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Chapel of Christian Faith, 1401 Paradise Dr., The Villages, Florida 32159.
