Lena Beatrice LaFlam

Lena Beatrice (Bateman) LaFlam, 89, of Lady Lake, formerly of Okahumpka,FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 3rd, 2014. Born in The Hollow, Virginia on Sept 14, 1925 to Roy Lee and Ruth (Harold) Bateman, she met and married her husband of 65 years, Philip LaFlam in Kansas City, Missouri, and after a 6 month courtship they married on July 28th, 1949 moving back to Florida where Philip was from, in 1950. Lena enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, church activities as well as being the best wife, mother, grand-great mother as well as a compassionate and thorough nurse. She is survived by her husband Philip, children, Karen L. Baumgardner ,Lady Lake, Philip L (Debbie), Okahumpka, brothers Bobby Bateman , Davin, W. Va., Jimmy Bateman Shady Springs, W. Va., grandchildren, Brittany Johansen, Lady Lake, Danielle’ Hunt, Orlando, Matthew Hunt, Lady Lake, Patricia La Flam, Okahumpka, Garren La Flam , Oakhumpka, great-grandchildren , Jacob Southall, Ethan Johansen, Larissa Adams, Isaac Johansen, Aubrielle Johansen, all of Lady Lake and Nolan Marshall of Ocklawaha.She is predeceased by her parents Roy Lee Bateman and Ruth Harold Bateman, step-mother Dora Lee Bateman, brothers Kenneth Clinton Bateman and Franklin Delano Bateman. Services will be at Beyers Chapel Lady Lake, Saturday, Dec 6th, with visitation at 1 p.m., and the service will follow at 2 p.m. by Pastor John Stricklen.
