Villager in golf cart arrested on drunk driving charge at Spanish Springs

A Villager in a golf cart was arrested Wednesday night at Spanish Springs Town Square on a charge of driving under the influence.

Steven  D. Warren, 53, of 1880 W. Schwartz Blvd., had consumed “a couple White Russians, doubles and some beer while playing golf,” according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

He failed field sobriety exercises and was arrested at 10:51 p.m. on a charge of driving under the influence.

Warren told the police officer he had started drinking at 5:30 p.m. that day.  He provided breath samples that registered .138 and .142 blood alcohol content.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail and later released after posting $1,000 bond.
