A 60-year-old orthopedic surgeon and a Villager have been arrested in a prostitution sting.
Dr. Peter James Mulhern, who has an office at 8550 NE 138th Lane in Lady Lake, was arrested Friday afternoon after he showed up at the Sleep Inn in Widlwood and was ready to pay $300 for sex, according to an arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. He was met by two undercover female sheriff’s deputies. They had posted sexually suggestive photos on a website. Earlier in the day, Mulhern had text messaged his desire for a meeting.
The day before at the same motel, a 55-year-old Village of Duval woman was arrested after she made arrangements through the same web site to meet an undercover deputy. Michele Adee was willing to have sex for $75, according to an arrest affidavit. She was arrested on a charge of prostitution. She is free on $2,000 bond.
Also caught in the sting were:
• Ariel Hillary Cook, 24, of Fruitland Park who was willing to have sex for $100.
• Nicole Amanda Ammirati, 28, of Belleview who was willing to have sex for $200.
• Heather Dawn Douglass, 32, of Belleview who was willing to have sex for $200.
• Qwenshatta Kenyonta Damon, 23, of Ocala who was willing to have sex for $100. She is also facing a charge of driving while license suspended after she arrived for the rendezvous in a 2007 Chevy Equinox.
Also arrested in connection with the operation was a 41-year-old Ocala man who reportedly delivered one of the women to the motel for sex.
Gordon Siler McClure was spotted outside the motel and appeared to be nervous when approached by a deputy. When McClure was asked what he was doing, he said he was “just hanging out.”
He had a .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun with a loaded magazine in his vehicle, the arrest report indicated.
McClure was already on felony probation in Marion County.
He was arrested on felony charges of possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a concealed weapon. He was booked on $12,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.
