Villages resident with drugs arrested at homeless camp in Fruitland Park

Monica Rhoades

A Villages resident with drugs was arrested after leaving a homeless camp in Fruitland Park.

Monica Michelle Rhoades, 41, who lists an address on Figuero Street in the Village of Santiago, was arrested at about 5:45 p.m. Friday when she and a man were leaving a piece of property on South Dixie Avenue that has been posted with “No Trespassing” signs. Law enforcement has been addressing complaints in that area due to an accumulation of garbage, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

Rhoades attempted to give police a false name. She was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. She was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.

Last year, Rhoades was arrested after she failed to show up in court to answer to drug charges.
