Joe Sellers

Joe_SellersJoe H. Sellers, 72, of Leesburg, Florida, was born January 3, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio and died Tuesday, August 27, 2013. For over 50 years, Joe worked and was Vice President at Beyers Funeral Home. He was City Commissioner from January 1972 to 1980; past Worshipful Master of Local Masonic Lodge #58 and 50 year member; past District Deputy Grand Master Florida F.&A.M.; 1981 past Grand Most Illustrious Master in the Council of the York Rite; past President of the Leesburg Sunrise Rotary; and past Board/President of the Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Joe was on the Life Stream Board of Directors and Past President for over 30 years; Mayor in 1974 and 1978; FMEA Board from 1977 to 1981 and President 1979 to 1980; City’s Personnel Committee from 1976 to 1980 and chairman 1979 to 1980. He was a member of the Florida Electrical Municipalities Association; Lake County League of Cities; Leesburg Jaycees, receiving the Distinguished Service Award and Florida Municipal Utilities Association. Joe belonged to Main Street Baptist Church for over 30 years and was attending Christian Ministries Worship Center, Whitney Road, Leesburg. Joe is survived by his daughters, Lisa M.(Mike)Pitts of Pembroke Pines, FL, Kimberly R.(Jack)Bitting of Leesburg, FL; sisters, Liz Sprecher of Bushnell, FL, Patty Price of Goose Creek, SC; brothers, Bob(Karen)Davidson of Fairview Heights, IL, Bud Davidson of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren, Carl, Tiffany, Cassidy, Ashton(Aaron), Aubrey, Taylor, Ashley(Greg) and Felicia; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his dog, Bruiser. Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg. Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Morrison United Methodist Church, Leesburg. Interment with Masonic Rites Services will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery, Leesburg.
