Pete Wahl was welcomed Friday afternoon with an open house into his new role as a legislative aide for State Rep. Marlene O’Toole.
Wahl, who has a long history of serving in government in Lake County and The Villages, is working out of a new outreach office at 229 E. Anderson Ave near the Sumter County Courthouse in Bushnell.
O’Toole picked up this portion of Sumter County in the last round of redistricting.
O’Toole, who has long been a strong believer in constituent services, wanted an outreach in this part of Sumter County.
“And who better than Pete Wahl?” O’Toole asked.
She said Wahl’s strengths in government and working with people will serve the people of the area.
“Pete knows everybody. He knows how to get things done,” she said.
Among those attending the open office were Sumter County Sheriff Bill Farmer, County Property Appraiser Joey Hooten and Jim Davis and Martha Maddox of UF/IFAS Sumter County Extension Service.
Davis will be overseeing the planting of native plants around the new O’Toole outreach office in Bushnell.
“You know Pete,” said Davis. “He wants to give the office a homey, welcoming feeling.”
