Nugent attends Memorial Day service at Florida National Cemetery

U.S. Rep. Rich Nugent, a Republican who represents a large portion of The Villages,  attended a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday at Florida National Cemetery.

“I am reminded how grateful I am to live in a country and a community where so many proud Americans stand up and answer the call,” the Congressman said.

“So to all those who have served, to those currently serving, and especially those heroes and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice, we cannot thank you enough… truly.”

Nugent has been outspoken in his criticism of the Veterans Administration in the wake of revelations of secret patient lists at VA hospitals.

He has called for the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.

“This is a serious breach of trust, first and foremost for the veterans who have been denied care, but I think for all veterans and for the entire country,” Nugent said earlier this month.
