A 76-year-old man was arrested after an altercation with a woman Sunday afternoon at the front gate at Continental Country Club in Wildwood.
Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene at 3:41 p.m. where they found a woman bleeding with cuts to her lip and nose.
Witnesses said the woman had been calling for help and a man had hit her in the face several times, according to the arrest report. They said they saw the man shove the woman into a vehicle.
Deputies spoke to Robert Lewis Murray of Wildwood who told them the woman had tried to get out a vehicle and he did not want her to leave. Murray said he grabbed the woman by the hair and hit her in the face in order to force her back into the vehicle, the arrest report indicated.
Murray was arrested on a charge of battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
