Name change unveiled for parent company of The Villages Regional Hospital

Central Florida Health Alliance — parent company of Leesburg Regional Medical Center, The Villages Regional Hospital, Leesburg Rehabilitation Hospital and Alliance Labs — has changed its corporate name to Central Florida Health to more appropriately describe its status as an integrated healthcare system.
The health system changed its name based on market research that revealed that area residents were unfamiliar with the term “Alliance” and how it was connected to their local hospitals.
“Our new name better reflects our role as the largest, most comprehensive provider of medical care in the Tri-County area (Lake, Sumter and South Marion counties),” said Don Henderson, president and CEO of Central Florida Health. “I would sincerely like to thank our community, team members, medical staff, Board and volunteers for their ongoing support of our organization as we continue to grow to meet the healthcare needs of our region.”
The new Central Florida Health name will serve as the catalyst for rebranding and marketing Central Florida Health’s hospitals to inform consumers of the advanced services they provide and distinguish the organization in the growing Central Florida healthcare market.
The names of all of the health system’s hospitals will remain intact, as they are strongly recognized and have a rich legacy in the community. “While it can be exciting to explore hospital name changes, our Board of Directors felt it best to only address our corporate name at this time, said board chair Greg Lewis. “On behalf of the entire organization, comprised of many amazing individuals working together to deliver world-class healthcare, we are all extremely proud of our fifty-three year heritage and deeply grateful for the wonderful support we receive from the communities we serve. In keeping with those sentiments, our Board recognized the need for a more consumer-friendly name that clearly identifies our sole commitment to Central Florida and reflects our evolution into a regional healthcare leader.”
