New upscale eatery provides alternative dining experience in Fruitland Park

Villagers and local residents looking for a fine dining experience reminiscent of the glitz and glamour of the big city no longer have to trek to Orlando to meet their tastes.

Now, interested parties can take the short drive to Fruitland Park for its newest restaurant addition: Rose Plantation.

Rose Plantation
The Rose Plantation is located at 200 Rose Avenue in Fruitland Park

Formerly the Pine Eden Estate, the Rose Plantation was built in 1917 by Minnie R. Dwight, a reporter and editor for a Massachusetts-based newspaper.

In 2015, Villager and former restaurant owner John Gibson purchased the property and received approval from the city of Fruitland Park to rezone the property from residential to commercial.

After receiving approval, Gibson transformed the property into a fine-dining establishment equipped with picturesque curb appeal and lake-front seating.

The restaurant boasts a menu filled with steaks and seafood and the interior dining space takes its cue from 19th century southern fine dining, equipped with individualized fine China at each table.

And no fine dining experience would be complete without exceptionally extraordinary service.

Alan Perkins of The Village of Amelia says he has been looking for a place to take his wife very special monthly dinner and is thrilled and impressed by the new restaurant. “It was more than I could have expected,” said Perkins of the restaurant. “Fantastic reception; would have thought we were lost cousins.”

The restaurant is located at 200 Rose Ave in Fruitland Park, just west of U.S. 27.  Although currently it’s open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, there are plans to offer lunch services soon.
