54-year-old Ocala bicyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run accident in Marion County

A 54-year-old Ocala bicyclist was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident this past Friday in Marion County and the Florida Highway Patrol is hoping to find the driver of the automobile that hit him.

Louis Dosh had been riding a bicycle at 3:18 p.m. Friday northbound on the right edge of North Anthony Road, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A vehicle, also northbound, struck Dosh’s bicycle, knocking him onto the hood of the vehicle. Dosh then fell from the hood onto the pavement.

The driver of the vehicle continued traveling northbound away from the crash without making contact with anyone, the FHP said in its report.

Dosh was transported to the Ocala Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. According to witnesses, the suspect is a middle-aged black male in his 40s to 50s with a possible beard. The vehicle is said to be an older, white, model dually pickup with yellowing tinge in its paint, this vehicle also had multiple dents and rust spots. The truck body had a “squared off” front end. No tint on its windows was noted. There may also be possible front right and hood damage.

The Florida Highway Patrol requests anyone with information about the driver or truck involved in this hit and run crash to contact Crime Stoppers or the FHP Communications Center in Jacksonville at (800) 387-1290.
