Pedestrian struck by vehicle at Pinellas Plaza

A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in front of the Winn-Dixie supermarket at Pinellas Plaza.

The accident occurred at about 8:30 a.m.

Witnesses said the man appears to have been part of a cleaning/landscaping crew and had been using a blower to remove debris from in front of the store. The man had been wearing a reflective safety vest, according to witnesses.

The man was reportedly transported from the scene by an ambulance.

The Villages Public Safety Department and Wildwood Police Department responded to the scene.

A spokesman for the Wildwood Police Department said the accident report could be released on Wednesday.
