John Evan Dressler had been at the wheel of a silver Cadillac Escalade at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday night when he failed to stop at a red blinking light at the intersection of Old Mill Run and Canal Street, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

It appeared he had been drinking, but he told the deputy he’d only had “two glasses of wine.” He addressed the male deputy as “ma’am.”

He failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .113 and .119 blood alcohol content.

Dressler was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center.
