A Jacksonville man was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia early Saturday in Wildwood.

At around 1:55 a.m., a Wildwood police officer was in the area of Dr. MLK Avenue and High Street and observed a blue Chevy car with a  broken driver’s side tail light, showing a bright white light from the rear of the vehicle, according to an arrest report. The officer activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop on the Chevy. The officer then made contact with the driver, 58-year-old Thomas Troell. Another officer came to the traffic stop’s location and used his K-9 to sniff the vehicle, who alerted the officers to the driver’s side of the vehicle. Both officers searched Troell’s vehicle and found a clear glass pipe with Chore Boy inside it, which is commonly used for smoking crack, according to the arrest report.

As Troell was being patted down by the officer, he kept asking the officers if they found his paraphernalia. Troell was placed under arrest and was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center.

He was released on a $1,000 bond.
