Charles ‘Charlie’ Francis Ebert

Charles ‘Charlie’ Francis Ebert

Charles (Charlie) Francis Ebert, 80, of The Villages, passed away early on Saturday morning December 2nd, 2017. Born on August 3rd 1937 in Lucerne County, Pennsylvania to Casmire and Beatrice Ebert.

Charlie grew up in Winfield Park of Linden New Jersey and later moved to Westfield, NJ when he married Margaret (Peg) Wall.

Charlie was a member of the United States Army before getting married to Peg. He served honorably, stationed in Alaska, shooting remote controlled rockets in which the electronics had been fabricated by his mother Beatrice in Linden, NJ. Later he worked for Schering Plough as an IT and financial professional for his entire career, ~ 40 years, until his retirement.

Charlie was an easy going yet competitive sports enthusiast. He loved football in high school, coaching his kids at every sport imaginable, fishing, boating, golfing and especially racing everything with his younger son Mike. He particularly loved working in the pits on his son’s racing team.
Charlie also had a quick wit and the greatest dry sense of humor. He was able to make friends for life by making you laugh and starting conversations easily. In any situation, he made you feel comfortable the first time you met him. All the young kids thought he was so cool because he acted like a kid himself, so full of life.

Charlie was a dedicated husband to Peg for 48 years until her death.

At the age of 72, Charlie moved down to the Villages with his new fiancé May Lehner. There, they had the best 8 years of their lives playing golf, horseshoes and any other competitive activities. There, they gathered a great deal of friends and enjoyed their company as much as possible.
He was great father and friend to his two son’s Mike and Chuck. In addition, the best Father In-law and Grandfather to Chuck’s Wife Sheila and their kids Sean, Kevin and Ryan. May’s children and grandchildren grew to love and adore Charlie like their own.

His sister Jennie will miss him when he visits his other sister Betty Ann in heaven. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held on December 8th at 2 p.m. at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, 1511 Buenos Aires Blvd, The Villages.
