Villa parking can grow contentious during snowbird season in The Villages

Villa parking can grow contentious during snowbird season in The Villages.

Signs in some villa communities remind residents that parking is  temporary.

Community Development District 5 supervisors on Friday will discuss the possibility of sending a message to those in the Belmont Villas.

The board is considering putting up informational signage in the villa complex located behind the Villages Charter School. The board will take up the matter during a meeting at 8 a.m. Friday in the District Office at Lake Sumter Landing.

Most complaints in villa communities concern homeowners or renters whose extra vehicles fill up the supplemental parking areas nearly 24 hours a day. Many are frustrated there are no parking spaces available when they have visitors.

The informational signage has been used with some degree of success in other villas in The Villages.

Last March, Community Development District 2 agreed to put up signs in the Vera Cruz Villas in the Village of Santo Domingo after residents complained about parking hogs.

Also in 2017, a dead man’s car that never budged became an irritant in the St. Simon Villas in the Village of Belle Aire. It was finally removed after Sumter County commissioners updated their parking ordinance.

This car had been frustrating residents of the St. Simon Villas.
