Teen charged in premeditated murder of Bushnell woman last year

Melody Victoria ‘Tori’ Bennett

Sumter County sheriff’s detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy on Thursday in connection with the murder of a Bushnell woman last year.

Tyler Ryan Hirsch was taken into custody and charged in the murder of 33-year-old Melody Victoria “Tori” Bennett, whose body was found last January one day after her birthday.
After months of investigation, forensic evidence led to the arrest of Hirsch, who was charged with premeditated homicide-murder in the first degree, sex assault with a weapon and armed burglary. He is being held with no bond.

Last Jan. 25 shortly before 2:30 p.m., Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded to 6349 County Road 625 in Bushnell after receiving a call about a deceased person at that location. Deputies determined the victim, Bennett, died from homicidal violence, a sheriff’s office report states.
