Firefighters extricate woman from vehicle after rollover crash on County Road 466

A Friday afternoon single-vehicle rollover crash on County Road 466 sent a woman to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters from The Villages Public Safety Department extricated a woman from a damaged vehicle on Friday afternoon after a crash on County Road 466 near the Hampton Inn & Suites.

The incident occurred about 3 p.m. near the Hampton Inn & Suites when the woman was heading east on CR 466 and attempted to pass another vehicle. She hit the curb, overcorrected and went across the median into the westbound lanes, where her vehicle ended up on its side.

Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash, along with firefighters from The Villages Public Safety Department and an ambulance from American Medical Response. Firefighters extricated the woman from the damaged vehicle and she was then transported to The Villages Regional Hospital.
