Webster, who was elected this past November to represent The Villages in the U.S. House of Representatives, will hold an open house beginning at 11 a.m. Friday at his office in the government annex at County Road 466 and Morse Boulevard.
House lawmakers were warned last week to maintain “enhanced security awareness” as they return to their home districts following several raucous town hall meetings in which congressional Republicans were taunted over plans to dismantle ObamaCare and other GOP initiatives.
The advisory issued by the House Sergeant at Arms “strongly encouraged” House members to review security protocols.
“This is important if your district office becomes a potential demonstration site,” the advisory said. “If your home address and phone number are publicly available, you should remain particularly alert regarding your surroundings.”
An internal document being circulated among local Democrats indicates they are planning to show up at Webster’s open house carrying signs with messages about the Affordable Care Act and immigration.
“Many representatives in Congress are being overwhelmed by the active response in their home districts during the Congressional recess. Let’s make sure that Representative Daniel Webster doesn’t feel left out!” the document said.
