Fred William Fielder, Jr. age 83 of The Villages, FL died May 25, 2017 at Lady Lake Specialty Care. He was born July 10, 1933 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to the late Fred W. and Edna M. (Belt) Fielder, Sr. He married Sandy Sloot on August 17, 1985 at Mount of Olives Church in Mission Viejo, CA.

Fred was a devout Christian, active member of his church and served as a Stephens Minister. In his travels he was eager to minister to whomever the Holy Spirit would bring into his life. Fred was also a lifetime member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International and a bible study devotee. Fred was a 1952 graduate of Missouri Valley High School, Missouri Valley, IA and attended Huron College, Huron, SD where he also played college football and was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. Fred volunteered for many years at Camp Lutherhaven in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, spent many hours transporting children to and from the camp and also served as their handyman each Summer. Fred and Sandy traveled extensively in his retirement. He passionately researched his ancestry and enjoyed visiting relatives in Schwieberdingen, Germany.

Fred was a very loving husband, incredible father, and great papa/grandpa and godfather. He loved the outdoors, traveling and sports. He retired after 51 years of service as a Regional Engineer with Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Amtrak. After his retirement he also worked part time at Lowes. Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife Sandy, brother Dr. Carl (Alma) Fielder of Union, NE, sister Donna Jost of Council Bluffs, IA, sons Fred (Lossie) Fielder III of Kaukauna, WI, Scott Sloot of The Villages, FL, daughters Regina (Bob) Hutton of Prescott Valley, AZ, Suzan (Nick) Paulin of McHenry, IL, Jodi Fielder of Phoenix, AZ, Wendy Sloot of Pomona, CA, and ex-wife Joyce Droesch of Chandler, AZ. He has 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 god child.

He was preceded by death by his parents and his sister Velma Bean.

A memorial Service will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30am at Hope Lutheran Church in the Villages, FL conducted by Pastor Jon-Marc MacLean. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Family Organization, Inc. P.O. Box 1939 New Port Richey, FL 34656. Burial will take place privately.
