Dunkin Donuts shuts down at Spanish Springs Town Square

Dunkin Donuts has “temporarily” closed its doors at Spanish Springs Town Square.

The coffee and donut shop, which normally is a hub of activity, has closed its doors due to the cessation of foot traffic at the square because of the Coronavirus.

Starbucks at Lake Sumter Landing made the decision to shut its doors this past weekend because it could not survive without walk-up foot traffic.

The Villages Entertainment on March 17 pulled the plug on evening entertainment at the town squares. Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the shut down of restaurants and bars, and some eateries in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown have tried to push on with take-out service. Without music and restaurants, the town squares have become ghost towns.

Faring better in the era of COVID-19 are the Dunkin Donuts locations at Spanish Plaines and at Southern Trace Plaza. They are offering take-out and drive-through service.
