An annual tradition in The Villages for more than 10 years is coming up this weekend.

The Visual Arts Association’s Fall Fine Arts Sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at SeaBreeze Recreation Center. More than 60 artists, all Villages residents, will have their artwork for sale.

In addition to paintings there will be a lot of three-dimensional art for sale including glass fusion, pottery, jewelry, sculpture and wood carvings.

“There is a really good variety,” said Diane Weekley, VAA chair of the Fall Fine Arts Sale. “We have jewelry to beautify the body and wonderful artwork to beautify people’s homes.”

New this year is the People’s Choice Award. Each artist will select one piece and visitors will have an opportunity to vote on what they deem to be the Best in Show.

“I think adding the People’s Award is going to be a lot of fun to the Sale this year,” said Weekley.

Always a popular event in the Villages, visitor attendance at the sale will fill the parking lot at SeaBreeze Recreation Center. Golf carts and carpooling is encouraged.

The VAA scholarship committee will provide refreshments on a donation basis as a fundraiser. Attendees will also have an opportunity to buy tickets for a chance to win donated artwork and painted pumpkins. The scholarship program is a very vibrant part of the VAA. Since 2006 they have awarded $100,000 in scholarships to high school students.

The VAA Fall Fine Arts Sale is open to the public. To find out more about the VAA, visit www.visualartsassociation.com.
