Woman’s purse stolen from vehicle at recreation center in The Villages

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has stepped up patrols at Colony Cottage Recreation Center after a car was burglarized.

The vehicle was burglarized while parked between 7 and 8 p.m. Wednesday at the recreation center. A window of the vehicle was broken and a woman’s purse was taken.

Those using the parking lot are encouraged to lock their doors and avoid leaving valuables in their vehicles.
