Member of Wildwood’s championship team jailed after allegedly making threats at his alma mater

A member of the 2018 Wildwood championship basketball team was arrested after allegedly making  threats at his alma mater.

Bryan Shyrod McMullen, 19, showed up at about noon Monday at Wildwood Middle High School and claimed he brought food for another student, according to an arrest report. McMullen asked if he could walk around campus but was informed he was no longer a student and could not be on the premises. He then said he wanted to see his former coach, but again was told he could not.

McMullen then suggested the front office clerk did not realize who he was and his past greatness on the basketball court. He then threatened to “blow up” the school, using an expletive. He made a threat to hurt the mother of the school employee. The assistant principal ordered McMullen to leave the grounds.

He was located by Wildwood police and taken into custody on charges of trespassing, conspiring to disrupt the education process and crimes against a person/harm a public servant or family. He was booked without bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

McMullen had been free on bond following his arrest last month after allegedly vandalizing a car.

In addition to basketball, McMullen had been a standout in football for Wildwood.
